It’s been quite some time since Marcy Walker graced the daytime canvas with her presence, but fans around the world still thrill at the mention of her name — a fact worthy of celebration. Equally exciting is the major milestone that the former actress stands poised to fete.

Happy Birthday, Marcy Walker

And that’s because she was born on November 26, 1961, in Paducah, Kentucky, which means that this much-beloved performer is turning 62 years old today! After making her acting debut in a 1980 episode of Great Performances, Walker joined the cast of ABC’s All My Children.

Between 1981 and 1984, she played Liza Colby, the teenage mean girl who sullied a rival reputation, leveed false rape allegations against a classmate, and lost her boyfriend to her own mother.

After exiting the role in hopes of pursuing other opportunities, Walker found herself taking on the part of Eden Capwell, a romantic heroine who was to soon consume most of the focus on NBC’s Santa Barbara.

On her own, Walker was fire. But once she was paired opposite A Martinez, who portrayed Cruz Castillo, Walker positively sizzled. For her work on the serial, Walker received three Daytime Emmy Award nominations, and she managed to nab the 1989 statuette for Outstanding Lead Actress for a storyline that saw Eden raped in a very gruesome sexual assault story.

During her tenure with Santa Barbara, Walker continued to accept other acting opportunities. She appeared in a string of made-for-TV movies throughout the early part of the 1990s, including The Return of Desperado (1988), Perry Mason: The Case of the Desperate Deception (1990), Bar Girls (1990), and Babies (1990).

In 1991, Walker left Santa Barbara in order to take on a lead role in the TV series Palace Guard (1991-1992). She returned to daytime television in 1993 via Guiding Light. However, her character, Tangie Hill, never truly caught on with viewers.

Two years later, Walker made a triumphant return to All My Children, where she once again assumed the mantle of Liza Colby. During her second run on the series, she was paired with David Canary’s rascally Adam Chandler. Walker remained in the part until officially retiring from acting in 2005.

Walker has been married to Doug Smith since 1999. She shares a son, Taylor, with her third husband, cameraman Stephen Collins, who was born in February 1989. Soap Hub would like to wish Marcy Walker a very happy birthday and many more.
