Spoilers for General Hospital suggest that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard) might be dealing with more serious issues than his marital status at the moment.
There has been an attempt on the lives of several high level mob figures, including Sonny, who has already been targeted twice. That’s probably the reason he decided to file for divorce from Nina Corinthos (Cynthia Watros) so quickly. But if he survives, Sonny might want to reconsider his choice after things calm down.
Nina Corinthos Crossed A Line!
As viewers know, Nina anonymously tipped off the SEC that Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Drew Cain (Cameron Matheson) committed the crime of insider trading. Carly and Nina have been at each other’s throats for years now, and most of it is over Sonny.
Even though they divorced, Sonny and Carly are still close so Sonny was furious with Nina’s revenge.
Since then, he has also learned that Carly and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) were also keeping secrets from him. He may decide that what Nina isn’t quite so bad in comparison.
Sonny Corinthos Filed For Divorce!
Nina was shocked and upset when Sonny had served her with divorce papers without any further discussion. While all of this is going on, Nina has reconnected with her former flame Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart).
They share a great love for Valentin’s daughter, Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez). So, when Drew fired Nina from Crimson Magazine, Valentin bought the Invader for her to run.
Valentin has advised Nina not to give Sonny the quick divorce that he wants. But as they continue to grow closer, he may come up with another idea.
Valentin Cassadine may propose to Nina Corinthos!
Valentin can put forth a different proposal in place of contesting the divorce itself. He might conclude that a proposal from another man would be the most effective approach to capture Sonny’s interest. If that were to occur, Sonny probably would react strongly and might come to the realization that he really does want Nina in his life.
Additionally, Nina might believe she can be more herself with Valentin than she ever could be with Sonny, and Valentin might rediscover his emotions for her. Additionally, it would remove her outside Carly’s sphere of influence, which is advantageous for all parties.
