In response to clips posted from an event featuring NCIS stars, Weatherly said, “This was a hilarious evening. NCIS has a great world to explore… And I cannot wait to be working with so many amazing people on this project. We will make it the very best it can be!”
When asked by a fan what he was most looking forward to about the new spinoff, Weatherly added, “Probably seeing [what] a Tony/Ziva offspring looks like? And then working with John McNamara and team. And btw- there are MORE surprises coming very soon! Hahahaha! Aha!”
The spinoff will reunite Michael Weatherly’s Toni DiNozzo with Cote de Pablo’s Ziva David. These characters have both made appearances in NCIS after their respective exits, though they have not shared the screen together since a 2013 episode. Filming is slated to start later in 2024, and the project will also see the two lead stars serving as producers on the project.
A synopsis released for the series reads, “Tony and Ziva have been raising their daughter, together. But when Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe, trying to figure out who is after them — and maybe even learn to trust each other again? — so that they can finally have their unconventional happily ever after.”
Another Spinoff Series for NCIS Is Coming
This is not the only spinoff series in the works. It was previously announced that a prequel series is in development, dubbed NCIS: Origins, which features Mark Harmon serving as the narrator while the show will follow a young version of Gibbs. Meanwhile, the main series is still ongoing with no plans to wrap up in the near future.
