One EastEnders legend is in for a shock when his plans to pop the question to his lover don’t exactly pan out as expected in upcoming scenes.
Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) has been acting rather secretively in recent scenes, abandoning plans with Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) in order to sneak off with no further explanation.
However, in upcoming scenes, it becomes clear exactly what he has been up to, as Honey prepares to run the London Marathon.
In order to make the day extra special and prove how much she means to him, Billy plans to get down on one knee before she sets off and ask her to marry him.
Unfortunately, things don’t quite go to plan and Billy loses the ring, completely derailing his attempt.
Things only go downhill from there when he is late to the start line, having had to take Whitney Dean and Zack Hudson (Shona McGarty and James Farrar) to hospital with Britney Wainwright (Lola Campbell) after she suffers a bike accident.
When he finally arrives, his bad luck unfortunately continues…
As Phil Mitchell and Lexi Pearce (Steve McFadden and Isabella Brown) head to the finish line, will Billy make it in time to see Honey complete the marathon?
In a first for the BBC soap, actors Emma Barton and Jamie Borthwick, who plays Jay Brown, are set to film scenes for the show while also running the marathon as individuals.
While the characters are running in memory of Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold), who tragically died from a brain tumour last year, Emma is running for BBC Children In Need and Jamie for Prostate Cancer UK.
Ahead of the race, Jay has a lot to deal with following Nadine Keller’s (Jazzy Phoenix) baby bombshell, and considers pulling out – much to Honey’s horror.
‘She’s a bit cross!’ Emma revealed.
‘She’s got to drum it into him why they’re doing this, and how important it is for him to do it for Lola, who sent that message on Christmas Day that we saw, that she recorded before she passed.
‘And also, for little Lexi. It shows a strength and responsibility. We all do things that we’re not looking forward to doing and don’t relish it, but sometimes you’ve just got to do it.
‘She’ll give him a few words!’
