NCIS star Michael Weatherly has teased that his upcoming spin-off with Cote de Pablo will feel like a movie.

Weatherly and de Pablo will be back as Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David for a 10-episode show set in Europe set to film later this year. He believes that the more serialised format will allow it to feel more cinematic.

Speaking on a TikTok/YouTube Short with a fan, Weatherly said: “You know, I really am looking forward to doing a version of NCIS where it really ups the stakes in terms of a long – it’s 10 episodes of one long story.

“Right, so it’s like a 10 hour movie. Limited series is what they call it, I guess, but it really allows you to explore the character arc with each episode being a reset

“So week to week we’re going to be able to tell this sort of serialised story that I think is going to bring a lot more depth to the characterisation and to the relationships and we’re going to be able to do not as much recaps and exposition.”

It was confirmed this week that the spin-off will officially be titled NCIS: Tony & Ziva, while the synopsis teases that the couple and their daughter Tali are forced to go on the run across the continent after Tony’s security firm is attacked.

Not only do they have to learn the identity of their attacker, but they also need to learn how to rebuild their trust with each other, so they can move on as a family and get their happy ending.

NCIS airs on CBS in the US. Seasons 1-20 are streaming on Disney+ in the UK.
