Farmer Wants A Wife fans were devastated last week when Claire Saunders revealed on Instagram that she had not only cancelled her wedding to Andrew Coleman but also left his sheep farm in rural New South Wales to relocate to the Northern Territory on her own.
The post, which came weeks after Claire revealed she’d just chosen her wedding dress, baffled followers too because even though she implied they’d broken up, she didn’t state this and instead stated this was all due to “reasons out of our control”.
“I’m not sure what else to say other than, sometimes life is hard and we all just need a little breathing space. There will be no farming content from me for the foreseeable future. My dogs and I have headed north to Darwin to work for the dry season,” Claire concluded her post.
Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, a former cast member who appeared on the 2023 version of the show alongside the pair claimed that, technically, the couple is still together, but their future is uncertain.
“Last I heard, they’re technically still together but taking time apart and having a break,” the co-star, who asked to remain anonymous, said, adding that this decision was “led by Andrew” and Claire is “pretty upset”.
The co-star claimed that the pair had “fallen off the radar” this year, but most people assumed this was because they were happy. The news surprised those who know them personally as much as fans.
Fans react to Andrew and Claire cancelling their wedding
Andrew and Claire famously left the show early, as the farmer decided she was the only woman he wanted to pursue. Since then, she has appeared to have seamlessly fit into farm life with him.
The pair announced their engagement in March this year, and all seemed well between them, with Claire seeming to fit into farming life perfectly.
In a Facebook group, one Farmer Wants A Wife fan shared Claire’s post and wrote, “I’m a little sad! Has even removed the announcement of their engagement on Instagram!”
The pair’s engagement post is indeed gone from Claire’s Instagram account, with her last photo of Andrew shared on October last year. Andrew doesn’t appear as active on social media, and his last post of Claire is from June last year.
“Damn, they were my faves,” another said, while a third added, “She had just been wedding dress shopping as well.”
“I am so sad for Claire. She didn’t deserve this,” someone else said.
