Another week means another chance for CBS to anger Big Brother fans amid various episode delays and scheduling shakeups, including for the most recent episode. Big Brother season 26 premiered July 17. Before that point, the network had announced that every single episode would air at 9 p.m. EDT. Unfortunately, things quickly changed when, a week later, CBS shook up the Big Brother 26 schedule and announced that Wednesday and Thursday episodes would be airing at 8 p.m. EDT, while Sunday episodes stayed at 9 p.m. EDT.
The latest Big Brother 26 episode delay occurred because the Democratic National Convention proceedings ran long.
The 2024 Democratic National Convention has been taking place all week. The Wednesday, August 21 episode of Big Brother 26 was the first one this week to be affected by the major political event after each day’s convention proceedings ran long. The Big Brother Instagram page even took to its Instagram Stories to preemptively explain the situation: “Big Brother may be delayed in the Pacific time zone…If it ends up delaying, it will follow up immediately after. So keep an eye on that west coast.” That warning ended up ringing true, which angered fans.
Big Brother Social Media Intern Acknowledges Mistakes
Big Brother Episode Delay Causes Headaches All Over The Place
Fans swarmed social media to complain about Big Brother 26 being delayed. @EvZotti said, “When Big Brother is delayed for another political convention,” and added a photo of houseguest Angela Murray with a pained expression on her face. The social media user’s comment is referring to the fact that Big Brother also faced delays when the Republican National Convention took place in July. @BrandonOSports claimed that the convention was “messing up” Big Brother for fans on the West Coast. @JoslayCalderon complained that they turned on CBS for Big Brother only, saying, “Why is the Democratic National Convention on my TV?”
The late nights even seem to be affecting the intern who runs the Big Brother Instagram account. It seemed that they posted incorrect information in one particular post because when the account posted the Veto winner, several fans pointed out in the comments section that a mistake was made. The person running the page replied that they were sleepy this morning, with a yawning emoji. They even posted a standalone comment that said, “This CBS intern is tired y’all,” with several snoring and laughing emojis.
It seems that Big Brother 26 viewers can’t catch a break this summer when it comes to trying to tune in to the reality show. CBS promised that every episode would air at the same time, but that got changed. Then there were multiple live events, including two political conventions and a sporting event, that caused various delays. Plus, CBS added a special Tuesday episode that was supposed to be a game-changer, but it ended up being a waste of time. Hopefully, the rest of Big Brother 26 goes smoothly with no more delays.
Big Brother airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EDT and Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
