Jack and Sean Reagan may not be central parts of the Blue Bloods story, but they are important to the family theme of the show. They are the sons of Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg), and their growth over the course of thirteen seasons is perhaps the greatest testament to how much has happened to (and how much has changed for) the Reagan family.
As fans have been quick to point out, Jack and Sean look eerily similar for actors who play siblings. Oftentimes on TV shows, the actors cast to be blood relatives look nothing alike, but the similarities have led many to question whether the onscreen siblings are also siblings off-screen.
If you are one of the many, you are absolutely right. The actors who play Jack and Sean Reagan, Tony and Andrew Terraciano, are brothers in real life. The brothers talked about rising to fame on Blue Bloods, and how they manage to keep a low profile despite growing up in front of millions of viewers.
“Sometimes I’ll be at the movie theater and someone will recognize me and my friends will be like, ‘I always forgot you’re a movie star.’ I’m like come on,” Tony told CBS News. Andrew, who is two years younger than Tony, enjoys the fact that he can still lead a relatively normal life. “Me and my friends, we really all do the same thing except I’m out once a week and I just have to kind of catch up on homework,” he revealed.
As the Terraciano brothers have gotten older, they have pursued different interests. Tony, for example, left Blue Bloods in season 10 (he made a brief appearance in season 12) to attend college at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The writers were able to explain his absence by stating that Jack Reagan is also attending college on the show.
We’d definitely like to see a Reagan brothers reunion onscreen at some point, but given that Tony still has several years of college left, we’ll have to be patient.
