A fan-favourite Farmer Wants a Wife couple has shocked fans by calling off their wedding. Claire Saunders, who captured our hearts on the 2023 season alongside her partner Farmer Andrew, dropped the unexpected news on social media.
Just days after delighting her followers with a sneak peek of her chosen wedding dress, Claire took to her Instagram stories with a heartfelt announcement.
“My dogs and I have headed north to Darwin to work for the dry season,” Claire wrote. She moved to Farmer Andrew’s farm in Narromine shortly after their journey on the show.
“Andrew and I have had to cancel our wedding due to reasons out of our control, but we are both okay.”
“I’m not sure what else to say other than, sometimes life is hard and we all just need a little breathing space,” she added. “There will be no farming content from me for the foreseeable future.”
Farmer Andrew has yet to comment on the situation.
The couple announced their engagement in March 2023, right as they celebrated their first anniversary together.
Andrew and Claire knew they were meant to be even before the season wrapped up, so they decided to leave the show early. Afterwards, Claire and her two furry friends moved to Andrew’s farm in Narromine, NSW.
Living on the farm gave them the chance to really get to know each other. They travelled together, visited each other’s families, and made tons of memories, which only strengthened their bond.
At the reunion, Farmer Andrew couldn’t contain his happiness: “The way it’s played out… you couldn’t have told me this would be the result… we’re heading in the right direction. There’s no doubt.”
Claire agreed, adding, “I’ve never felt so comfortable. I thought what I wanted was outrageously out of reach — turns out it’s not, so [that’s] good!”
