NCIS: Hawaii Spoilers: 10 Burning Questions For Season 3

NCIS: Hawaii had a great sophomore season, packed with scores of action, thrills and other twists for the characters. It ended well with a good setup for Season 3, but sadly, that’s being delayed thanks to the various strikes hitting Hollywood. Right now, it appears Season 3 won’t premiere until 2024, with fans eager to know more.

That’s not helped by how there are scores of questions about the show that Season 3 will have to answer. From Jane facing problems in both her job and personal life to the chances of new characters popping in, here are ten burning questions for Season 3 that keep NCIS: Hawaii fans eager for the return of this great spin-off.

Will Jane face consequences for her actions?

The Season 2 finale had Jane breaking former mentor Maggie out of jail to help her track down a former ally turned terrorist. It led to a big shootout, with Maggie escaping. The question is if Jane faces disciplinary action for it, as mysterious agent John Swift simply said to his superior that Jane needed a little more control.

It’s hard to see Jane just booted from the team, but she might find herself being restricted more from her usual “lone wolf” antics and knowing one misstep by her or the team could mean serious consequences.

Is Maggie going to return in NCIS: Hawaii Season 3?

Jane herself noted that as a veteran spy who had scores of connections around the world, it would be almost impossible to find Maggie. But Jane may still want to try, not just for justice but to redeem herself for trusting her for so many years when she was playing both sides. Whether it’s an official job or just Jane on her own, Maggie can still cause trouble given her life of secrets, making catching her even more important for Jane and the team.

Is John Swift going to be a regular presence?

The NCIS: Hawaii Season 2 finale had Jane meeting John Swift (Henry Ian Cusick) from the NCIS Office of Special Projects. He oversaw the case with Maggie and clearly was not a fan of Jane’s tactics. The episode ended with Swift telling someone on the phone that the team needed “a helping hand” to help them avoid some messes.

A question now is if this means Swift will be a regular presence on the show in Season 3. He could be much like Killbride on NCIS: Los Angeles, the stern guy ready to pull a leash on the team’s tactics but still knows their style helps them succeed. Cusick is a top TV face, and having him added to the show would be a fun spark with him and Jane clashing more on how the team handles cases.

How often will Sam Hanna be around?

A major moment in the Season 2 finale was Sam H anna (LL Cool J) popping in to help Jane out of a jam. It’s confirmed that LL Cool J will be in Season 3, but a question of how often it will be. The original plan was likely at least half of the episodes, but with Season 3 now curtailed by the strike, a question remains of how often Sam can show up. It depends on LL Cool J’s schedule and willingness to travel from L.A. to Hawaii, as Sam may not be a regular on Season 3 but still great having him around.

Will there be a team shakeup in NCIS: Hawaii Season 3?

John Swift’s words in the finale hinted there might be some sort of shakeup for the team. While that could simply be Sam hanging around more, there’s a chance Swift may want to rearrange things, put team members on different assignments or even reassign some. That may also leave the door open for a new character to show up. It’s hinted there may be a surprise or two as the team might be in for a surprise in how they operate in Season 3.

Will we see more of Boone’s family?

Boone has been a great part of the show aiding Jane and helping out his team. It’s been said he’s married with children, yet we have yet to see his wife or two kids. That seems off, so Season 3 might finally shine a light on Boone’s personal life and how his family feels about him on so many dangerous assignments. Showing Boone really is a good dad and husband would be nice, and Season 3 could use more insight into his life.

Is Alex going to be around?

Jane has had some issues with her son Alex and is still thrown he was accepted into the Naval Academy. She tried to stop it but decided to let him go his own way. So it’s up in the air if Alex will be around in Season 3 or if he is heading to the Academy. Either way, Jane will no doubt have a challenge adjusting to her son’s absence and how he handles being in the military himself.

How will Kat and Lucy’s relationship unfold?

Season 2 had a major shift for the lovers as Lucy had to spend a few months on a ship assignment and throw off their dynamic. They seem to be doing better since her return, but the two still face the challenges of keeping up a romance with their jobs, and each is still unsure of this. There’s also how now and then the FBI and NCIS can be at odds on a case and Kat and Lucy on opposite sides, not to mention how their families might feel about this. Season 3 might bring more obstacles for the pair to overcome.

Will Kai and Bam Bam hook up?

Kai had some big stuff in Season 2, like handling someone from his past trying to kill him. A highlight has been his banter with Bam Bam (Cher Alvarez), the demolitions expert who helps the team on occasion. Kai is struck by Bam Bam’s blunt attitude, but they seem to get along, with Boone teasing Kai about digging her. It’d be fun to see if the pair end up hooking up for some romantic eruptions on the show.

Will there be another NCIS crossover?

Season 2 had the team working with the NCIS units, including in a big three-part crossover. Sam Hanna means a connection to NCIS: Los Angeles but a question if there can be another crossover. It’s unlikely, given the lower episode count for Season 3 but it would be great to see the two teams working together again and continuing to connect the NCIS universe.
