Olivia Benic and her beau Matt Young, who found love on the 2023 season of Farmer Wants a Wife, have welcomed a baby which it seems they went to some effort to keep a secret.
That was, until Olivia dropped an Instagram post spreading the good news and thanking friends and family for the “baggy clothes” that helped her complete her pregnancy out of the public gaze.
Farmer home the Seven Network called it a “secret pregnancy”.
The couple seem over the moon about the new addition to their family after what Wollongong-raised Olivia said had been a long – drug-free – labour in mid-August.
The baby’s name or sex have not yet been revealed – other than the moniker “bubba”.
“286 days of carrying you, 8 hours of labour without pain relief, and what felt like a lifetime of waiting … our little bubba entered our little family happy and healthy on Thursday,” Olivia wrote on August 17.
“Thank you to our close friends/family/baggy clothes (haha) for helping us to enjoy this wonderful experience privately and with so much unconditional support.
“We will not be active on social media for a little while, and will be taking our own time to settle into parenthood.
“We are so very happy and look forward to sharing more when we are ready.”
Recent posts on Instagram have included pictures of when Olivia saw the baby’s head on an ultrasound examination, and a candidate baby belly-baring pic in the great outdoors.
The Illawarra followed Olivia’s progress throughout Australia’s favourite agriculture-related dating show, culminating in her being chosen by Yass region farmer Matt in May 2023.
She moved to Canberra as Matt took a job in the public service and at one stage had settled into a job at Canberra Grammar School.
