The Vanderpump Rules cast member gets real about Ariana’s latest gig as she spends time in Fiji hosting Love Island USA.
James Kennedy has been nothing but supportive of his friend, Ariana Madix, amid all of her recent success.
The DJ showed up for his fellow Vanderpump Rules cast member as she opened up her sandwich shop, Something About Her, with Katie Maloney by tasting their sandwiches. And now he’s supporting her hosting Season 6 of Love Island USA, currently filming in Fiji, by tuning into the Peacock show.
James took to his Instagram Story on Wednesday, June 12, where he showed his love for her with the sweetest message and words of encouragement.
James Kennedy’s comments on Ariana Madix hosting Love Island USA
James snapped a photo of his TV screen, where Ariana can be seen wearing a pink dress with her arms up as the cast of Love Island USA stands behind her. He tagged his friend on the photo, followed by the clapping and heart hands emoji.
“Not gonna lie I teared up cause this one goes way back for us haha,” James wrote.
Judging from his words, James is clearly a very big Love Island fan. So, seeing Ariana hosting the show must be a little surreal.
Ariana Madix’s history with Love Island
Before becoming the host of Love Island USA Season 6, Ariana had also been a huge fan of the show. During Vanderpump Rules Season 10 Episode 14, Ariana had a conversation with then-boyfriend, Tom Sandoval, where they argued about how they could spend more time together. Ariana noted that Tom wasn’t a fan of the same things as her and her friends (like James).
“You don’t sit there and watch episodes of Love Island with me,” Ariana told Tom at the time.
After the end of their relationship, Ariana made an appearance on Love Island USA Season 5 as a “VIP Guest.” It was here where she hosted a game played by the show’s contestants before leaving the island. A year later, Ariana returned as the host of Season 6, which is currently airing on Peacock.
Although Tom might have not watched Love Island with Ariana, she told E! News last month that her boyfriend, Daniel Wai, will be joining her in Fiji while she hosts the show. But, he has to watch it first. “I don’t know that he’s ever watched it,” she admitted. “But he’s going to have to start watching it now.”
As it turns out, Daniel has been hanging with Ariana in Fiji as she films the series. He shared a photo of him with Ariana on the beach, captioning it, “Could do another week in the Fijian sun! Need these peaceful vibes again! Great way to spend my first mini vacation in over a year!”

During an episode of Vanderpump Rules After Show, James applauded Ariana for everything that she has accomplished since her breakup. “I’ve seen someone that’s very, like, ‘Make the best out of a sh-tty situation that’s happened,'” James said. “She’s forever grateful. She’s been working her f-cking ass off.”
Most importantly, James noted that Ariana is actually putting in the work. “She’s not half-assing anything,” he added.
