It’s clear that Danny and Jason have a special union, and the fact that their portrayers do as well shines through.

On General Hospital, it’s clear that Danny and Jason have a special bond. Recently, Danny’s portrayer, Asher Antonyzyn, revealed that he and Jason’s portrayer, Steve Burton, share a connection off-screen as well.

Antonyzyn Has Bonded With His TV Parents

Watching Danny and his not-actually-dead father, Jason, talk on GH is amazing because both characters use as few words as possible to convey their thoughts. Even before Burton returned to the sudser in March, it was clear that Danny was Jason’s son because of his stoic nature and succinct speech pattern.

Much like his dad, Danny can keep a secret, and he didn’t tell his mother, Sam (Kelly Monaco), that he had helped the wounded Jason until he absolutely had to. Danny’s on-screen rivalry with his brother Jake (Hudson West) has the same chemistry as Jason did with his brother AJ (ex-Sean Kanan).

In an April 18 interview, Antonyzyn told Soap Opera Digest that Monaco always provides him with great advice and tips, and stops whatever she’s doing to assist in his scene preparations. “She’s so personable and always makes sure I feel comfortable in the scenes and always watches out for me, like all the actors do,” he remarked, adding that, “She’s just very fun and positive and easy to connect to.”

Speaking of connecting, he further explained that he had an instant connection with Burton, whom he labeled as “amazing.” Having bonded during their first time working together, he revealed that his hitman-dad’s portrayer has “Taken me under his wing, and he’s taught me so much. He’s so energetic and just genuine with everyone.” Remarking that Burton exudes positive energy, he praised his elder costar, stating, “He’s just a great guy. I’ll be sitting in my makeup chair, and he’ll come up, and he’ll be like, ‘What’s up, buddy? How’s life?’ ”

Antonyzyn noted that his TV dad always asks him the latter question and that “We both understand the bond between Jason and Danny and how the viewers see it is real [between us as actors].” His bond with both Monaco and Burton, Antonyzyn feels, is evident, and he praised them remarking, “I have some of the best parents on the show!”

As things get crazier and more violent in Port Charles, Danny’s going to need his father more than ever, although Sam doesn’t want them to be together because of Jason’s violent lifestyle. Hopefully, Sam, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), Sonny (Maurice Benard), and everyone else who lost faith in Jason will have their belief in him restored soon, so that father and son can bond on screen, much like they have in real life.
